Spinosaurus
Spinosaurus is a genus of Spinosaurus dinosaurs. It lived in present-day North Africa from the Cynormanian to the Toulonian stage of the Late Cretaceous about 99 to 93.5 million years ago.
It is one of the largest terrestrial carnivores; other large carnivores comparable to spinosaurus include theropods, such as Tyrannosaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Carcharodon.
The skull of the spinosaurus is long, low, and narrow, similar to that of modern crocodiles, with straight and tapered teeth without serrations. It has large, strong forelimbs and three fingers, with an enlarged claw on the first finger.
Spinosaurus’s unique nerve spine is a long extension of the vertebrae (or spine). It is at least 1.65 meters (5.4 feet) long, and it is likely that there is skin connecting them to form a sail-like structure.
