Dilophosaurus

Dilophosaurus is a genus of theropod dinosaurs that lived in what is now North America in the early Jurassic period about 193 million years ago. Its name means “Double Crested Lizard”. Dilophosaurus was about 7 meters (23 feet) long and weighed about 400 kilograms (880 pounds). It was one of the earliest large predatory dinosaurs in North America at that time and the largest known terrestrial animal.

It is slender and light, with a large skull, but very delicate. Its snout is very narrow, and the upper jaw has a notch or kinked under the nostrils. It has a pair of longitudinal arched crowns on its skull, which is one of the reasons why it is famous all over the world.
